It’s about living, giving, and providing for self and others. urbanmac wants to enable fellow ‘urbanites’ in New Zealand to live the dream of a self-sufficient lifestyle in the city by helping others to grow organic, fresh, in-season veges in their own backyard with as little as 1 metre of space.
We sell beautiful, kitset, untreated macrocarpa garden boxes of all shapes and sizes. We sell delicious organic EKO soil. We sell childrens non-toxic sand boxes, outdoor furniture and pergolas.

We believe that urbanites can take responsibility to preserve the environment and maintain their busy city lifestyles. We developed these garden boxes because we believe even in large urban cities, like Auckland, we can play a small part in living a suistainable, natural life, while living self-sufficiently.

We choose to use macrocarpa because we can source 90% of our timber from sustainable plantations. More importantly, mac has some amazing natural qualities. It has similar structural strength and durability compared with H3 radiata pine but because it is naturally rot and fungus resistant, it doesn’t need treatment (aka tanalising),so no nasty chemicals leach into your soil. It is non-toxic. Mac also naturally resists insects and pests, making veges flourish without pesticides.
