See the best young competitors on stage in the largest event of its type in New Zealand, with over $40,000 in prize money. Prizes include $5000 first, $3000 second, and $1500 third for those placed in all of this year’s art forms.

Around 140 young performing artists, aged between 15 and 25 will come from all over New Zealand to perform in ballet, tap, pianoforte and vocal.

PACANZ (Performing Arts Competitions Association of NZ Inc) is a parent organisation of 52 smaller competition societies in New Zealand. Competitors qualify by entering their local competitions, undergoing a rigorous selection process and performing to the specific required standards of their chosen art form. They then represent their society at the national competition. For some this is the pinnacle of their artistic endeavours for others however, this will be the catalyst that launches their professional career.

Next year's 2011 National Young Performer Awards will feature Modern Dance, Highland and National Dance, Speech and Drama and Instrumental. PACANZ alternates the art forms, covering all eight in a two-year cycle.
