Wow never knew that!

  • When recycling grey water, a net bag over the hose will stop lint and sludge going onto your garden.
  • Left over rolls of wallpaper can be used as drawing paper for children, or even to wrap presents.
  • Using zip-lock bags instead of plastic wrap for your childs lunch means the bags can be re washed and re used.
  • Broken crockery can be used for drainage in the bottom of pot plants.
  • You can recycle the following items, egg cartons, plastic bottles, plastic takeaway containers, ice cream containers, the centres of both toilet rolls, and paper towels to assist in planting and growing seedlings.
  • Old stockings and pantyhose can be used to tie up plants in the garden.
  • You can recycle sheets and turn them into drawstring gift bags - have the children draw on them to personalise.
  • To give a new broom a longer life, soak it in hot salted water
  • Store your plastic bags in empty tissue boxes
  • You can make your own recycled paper fire logs. Fill a large plastic bin with cold water, add torn up newspapers. Leave a few days until the paper is thoroughly saturated. Drain the water and form the soggy paper into rough bricks. Apply weights to squeeze out the excess water and compact paper into a brick. Leave the bricks to dry. Once dry ready to burn.
  • Give new life to a dented ping pole ball by dropping into a boiling kettle for two minutes.
  • When tying a parcel with string, dampen it first. It wont slip and will tighten as it dries.
  • Put the bounce back into old tennis balls, simply wrap in foil and place them into an oven preheated to 200 C for thirty minutes.
  • To restore old playing cards dust with talcum powder.
